Jamshedpur, April 29: Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy has requested the Energy Department Secretary and the executive engineer of Jamshedpur electricity department to keep a vigil on the power supplies at night with the view to prevent frequent power cuts in various localities of the city.

“In view of the ongoing power crisis, I have requested the authorities to keep an eye on the actual power consumption data at the load dispatch centre at state level and also monitor the consumption data at power grid, power sub-stations and feeders at local level. The officials should analyze the data to make sure that power supply is not diverted from the power grid, power sub-stations and feeders for industrial consumption during night under any circumstances. The data analysis of power consumption at power grid and power substations during peak load period would make it clear,” said Roy.

Roy said the citizens would get a great deal of relief only if the electricity department officials are vigilant and pro-active. “The power department officials have detected anomalies in the dispatch and consumption of power supply during night at Adityapur in the last two days and have prevented the power supply from being used for industrial purpose,” he said.

Roy said he had asked the executive engineer of electricity department to actively inspect the power sub-stations and feeders in Sidhgora, Astha, Birsanagar and Govindpur linked to the Golmuri grid and ensure domestic use of entire power supply at night. “Today, the Golmuri grid got 70 megawatt power which is equal to full load. I have requested the authorities concerned to give additional power supply of 10 megawatt so that the people of Jamshedpur East constituency and Govindpur get relief from power cuts at night. Otherwise, the authorities should completely stop non-domestic consumption of electricity at night,” he said.
