Political excitement peaks outside vote counting center in Jamshedpur

EVMs secured in strong rooms, party leaders set up tents for vigil

Jamshedpur: The political atmosphere near Co-operative College counting center is heating up ahead of the Jharkhand Assembly Elections vote counting on November 23. A total of six tents representing six candidates have been set up, creating a hub of activity and intrigue.

The tents include two each for Congress and BJP (with one jointly shared by JDU-BJP and AJSU), along with tents for the JMM candidate and independent candidate Shiv Shankar Singh. While the JMM candidate’s tent was relatively quiet. The remaining five tents buzzed with leaders, party workers, and supporters, reflecting the rising political excitement in the cold season.

Sunday marked the start of lunch and dinner services at the tents. Meals, prepared in makeshift kitchens behind the tents, offered a variety of options. The vegetarian menu featured hot rice, dal, potato curry, and salad, while non-vegetarians enjoyed hot rice, fish, and salad. These arrangements catered to nearly 200 people.

Potka candidate Meera Munda visited the JDU-BJP-AJSU (Saryu Rai) tent, which saw a steady stream of activity. The Kadma BJP Mandal oversaw operations from 7 am to 7 pm, with the Bagbeda Mandal taking over for the night shift. However, Jamshedpur West Assembly candidate Saryu Roy was out of town and did not visit the site.

Meanwhile, Congress tents belonging to candidates Dr. Ajoy Kumar and Banna Gupta were packed with party leaders and supporters. Congress district president Anand Bihari Dubey, Dharmendra Sonkar, and their teams spent hours strategizing and supporting their candidates.

Local political experts predict that the bustling activity and rising political temperature will continue to intensify as vote counting day approaches. The area is expected to remain a hotspot for political engagement, drawing attention from across the region.
