Jamshedpur: City police foiled the attempt to commit dacoity by a gang of criminals in Kadma police station area on Saturday by arresting three of its members with arms.
The senior superintendent of police (SSP) of East Singhbhum Amol Venukant Homkar said the culprits were trying to commit dacoity in the house of a trader in Kadma police station area. The culprits had planned to rob cash and valuables worth Rs 10 lakh from the house of the trader, he said.
Those arrested were identified as Mohammad Arif Rahman, Sarfaraz Alam alias Babu and Faraz Khan, all local residents. Cops seized a country-made pistol with two bullets and a dagger from the possession of the accused persons.
The SSP went on inform that the police had got a tip-off about the plan of the culprits who were planning to carry out their plan shortly. A police team was set up to nab the culprits. Two accomplices of the accused persons, identified as Armaan Bachcha and Vijay Tirkey, managed to evade arrest, the SSP said.
All five accused persons have a criminal past. They are wanted in loot, dacoity and snatching incidents along with other heinous crimes, police said.
