Government team probes into Jubilee Lake fish deaths

Jamshedpur: A team of state government from Ranchi visited Jubilee Park at Bistupur on Saturday to conduct a probe into the cause of death of fishes found floating mysteriously in the lake inside the park.

The team members collected samples of the lake water and fishes for laboratory testing to ascertain the cause of death. They talked to the cleaning staff and several other officials concerned engaged with the lake area management regarding the probable causes of death of fishes.

Earlier, fishes of bigger sizes were found dead in the lake. Pollution of the lake water was suspected to be a probable cause of death of the fishes by the district administration officials. Contamination of the lake water by hazardous chemicals is a possibility under study by the team.

The death of fishes has become a cause of concern for environmentalists and nature lovers who are waiting for the government agencies concerned to find out the exact cause leading to so many fish deaths.
