Jamshedpur: In a major breakthrough, city police here arrested four culprits including a woman reportedly involved in a dacoity committed in Shivam Apartment under Sonari PS on 31st October last. They confiscated a pistol and four bullets and a Mahindra Bolero car used in the crime. Two more members of the gang, identified as Raju George and Jitendra Singh, are at large, said SSP Anoop T Mathew.
The accused persons had robbed cash and jewelry worth Rs 11 lakh from the household of a bank employee, Srijan Dutta, a resident of Shivam Apartment.
Those arrested were identified as Sagar Saini, his wife Muskan Saini, Gaurango Senapati and Arun Sahis.
The SSP said the dacoits were arrested following raids conducted by several teams of city police in Jharkhand and West Bengal. He said the arrested gang members are professional criminals involved in loot, robbery and snatching. The kingpin of the gang, Raju George, was jailed for some time in Ghagidih Cenral Jail.
He was arrested in Ranchi last year. Soon after being released from jail, he carried out the robbery plan, said the SSP.
The robbers had targeted Srijan Dutta’s house around 3 pm. Muskan Saini along with his husband and Gaurango entered the household under the garb of seeking job for herself as a domestic help. The gang rook away cash worth Rs 35,000 and valuable ornaments kept in the safe, said the SSP.
