Police arrests accused in Tata Steel employee’s wife murder case

Jamshedpur, July 20: Police on Wednesday claimed to crack the Khemlata Devi murder case by arresting Binay alias Binu Kumar, son of Sitaram Sahu, resident of Naya Line in Sonari under Sonari police station.

Khemlata, a housewife, was murdered brutally at her residence on Tansa Road under Kadma police station area late on June 28 night. ��

The police recovered a Samsung Galaxy mobile phone of the deceased, which was used by the accused and a blood stained jeans pant which the accused was wearing during the incident night, said SSP Annop T Mathew.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, the senior SP said, Khemlata Devi (43), wife of Tata Steel employee Kartik Ram, was murdered by Vinay on June 28 and to a team headed by City SP was formed search for the culprit. After several raids the main accused, Vinay alias Binu Kumar was arrested from his Sonari residence.

SSP further said, �The accused Vinay admitted that he was regular visitor at Khemlata’s residence and on June 28 he went to her Quarter No. 80 house at around 2 p.m. and after having biscuit both of them went inside another room where they had an altercation.� Following this, the accused Vinay took the vegetable knife from the tray and attacked Khemlata’s neck and stomach and killed her, said SSP.

Mathew added, �From there Vinay went to his house in Saonri taking with him two mobile phones of Khemlata. The next day accused Vinay took his sister’s scooty and went to Toll Bridge from where he threw one of the mobile phones and the knife into the sewer and kept one of the expensive Samsung Galaxy mobile phone for his personal use. Vinay threw the jeans trouser in the bushes at Beldih Golf Club premises,� added Mathew.

Significantly, after Khemlata Devi was stabbed to death at her residence she was rushed to Tata Main Hospital�s emergency by her husband Kartik Ram, a Tata Steel employee. The victim was declared as brought dead.

Two cell phones have been found missing from the house. The incident of the woman�s murder was discovered by Kartik who returned home from his B-shift duty at about 10.30 p.m. and subsequently rushed the body to the Tata Main Hospital by 10.50 p.m.
