Govt to set up 100 colleges, appoint 18000 school teachers: Neera Yadav

Jamshedpur, July 20: �Neera Yadav, state HRD minister, on Wednesday announced that the state government will also come with 100 colleges in the state out of which 11 will be model colleges.

Yadav, who was here in the city, said that the department is working hard to provide fillip to the education scenario. A number of initiatives to address the issues have been initiated.

He also informed that the state HRD department is trying its best to meet lack of teachers in schools and colleges of the state. The government is also set to recruit 18000 teachers for schools in the next couple of months. The minister also promised electricity and infrastructure to schools within a timeframe of 2018.

“We want to provide quality education across the State and steps are being taken. This was the first time in many years that we recruited teachers for primary and middle schools. Though there have been anomalies in some areas but that we only came to know when we started working. We are organizing a review meeting every month to address the existing problems. Our aim is to ensure quality education we will also work to improve infrastructure,” said Yadav, while speaking to the media at the local Circuit House here on Wednesday.

She was here to attend a felicitation for students under National University Students Skill Development (NUSSD), a scheme under the Union ministry of skill development, entrepreneurship, youth affairs and sports implemented by Mumbai’s Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), organized at the campus of Jamshedpur Women’s College in Bistupur.

She also informed that quality secondary education from Class VI to XII in rural areas with special stress on spoken and written English would be provided. Regular health check-ups and educational tours will also be included in the syllabus.

Yadav went on to say that the department of HRD has decided to transfer teachers on the basis of the time spent in service. Teachers serving for more than a decade in rural areas will now be transferred to cities and vice versa.
