Jamshedpur, Aug. 22: The police have arrested Sunny Gope (20) and Niraj Gope (28), both nephew and uncle and residents of Sidhgora for allegedly raping and killing four-year-old girl. Her body was taken out from a pond in Sidhgora on Friday morning.
Senior superintendent of police, Anoop T Mathew said that the rape and murder of the four-year-old child was result of enmity between Niraj Gope and the victim’s father Kasmira Singh.
Mathew said Niraj Gope who is married and father of two children was a tenant at the house of Kasmira Singh at Fouja Bagan in Sidghora. He said on August 15, Kasmira who is a truck driver had forcibly evicted Niraj Gope and his family as he had not paid rent for the past two years, leading Niraj to threat Kasmria with dire consequence.
According to the senior SP, on August 16, Niraj’s nephew Sunny who would stay at some other place in Sidhgora picked up the child from near her house.
“As per our investigation Sunny first took her to a park at the adjoining Baridih area in Sidhgora. Offered her chocolates and by the evening brought her to an empty quarters on Road No 8 in Sidhgora, where he raped the child at about 9 pm,” said the SSP.
The senior police officer said after an hour of the rape, Niraj came to the empty quarter and strangulated the girl. Subsequently they dropped it in the water-body.
Mathew said Niraj had conspire the abduction and murder of the child and he got this executed by engaging his nephew.
The senior SP, when asked, said they had been informed from the forensic doctor at the MGM Medical College where the post-mortem of the child had been done that she had been raped and strangulated.
“Only after getting the information that we started investigation into the case with a new angle. We wanted the victim’s parents to say if they had enmity with anyone. The parents had said that they had a serious quarrel with Niraj Gope.
We got everything to unfold the case after we had picked up Niraj for interrogation,” said Mathew. He said both Niraj and Sunny have also confessed their crime.
