PM Modi praises Jamshedpur’s organ donor family in Maan Ki Baat

Seraikela, March 26: Seraikela town in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district got into limelight on Sunday as
Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Seraikela’s organ donor
late Snehlata Chowdhary and her husband Raman Chowdhary in his “Mann
Ki Baat” programme.

During this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke telephonically to
Abhijit Chowdhary, son of late Snehlata Chowdhary and Raman Chowdhary
living in Gurgaon. In which the Prime Minister said that both his
father and late mother are entitled to respect.

“I bow down to your parents. And your father leading you family in
such a big decision is really inspiring. And I agree that a mother is
a mother. A mother is also an inspiration in herself. But the
traditions left behind by the mother become a great force generation
after generation,” Prime Minister said in the conversation.

The Prime Minister said to Abhijit that his mother’s inspiration for
organ donation is reaching the whole country on Sunday and announced
that the government has also decided to remove the age limit below 65
years for organ donation.

“I urge the countrymen that organ donors should come forward in
maximum numbers. Your one decision can save the lives of many people,
can make life. Whether it is about 39 days old Kaur or 63 years old
Snehlata Chowdhary, donors like them make us understand the importance
of life,” said Narendra Modi.

The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction that such a policy is also
being worked out across the country to facilitate and encourage organ
donation. In this direction, it has also been decided to remove the
domicile condition of the states.

Organ donation was done on October 1

Raman Chowdhary, husband of late Snehlata Chowdhary, a resident of
Seraikela, is a textile businessman from Seraikela. On September 17,
2022, late Snehlata Chowdhary was the victim of a road accident near
Hansahudi on Seraikela-Chaibasa main road during the morning walk.
After which she was admitted from Sadar Hospital Seraikela to Tata
Main Hospital in Jamshedpur. Where after the operation, after being
kept under observation for 48 hours, she was airlifted to AIIMS,
Delhi.

On October 1, 2022 the doctors declared him brain dead. After which
her heart, both kidneys and both eyes were donated by her husband
Raman Chowdhary with the consent of the whole family.

Snehlata Chowdhary had registered for eye donation 8 years ago while
she was alive. Late Snehlata Chowdhary, who was the president of
Marwari Mahila Samiti, was the elder sister of former East Singhbhum
deputy commissioner Ravindra Kumar Agarwal who is currently the
Additional Deputy Director of AIIMS Delhi.

Late Snehlata Chowdhary actively participated in social work during
her lifetime.  She was also selected for the popular TV serial Kaun
Banega Crorepati.

BJP supporters watched the telecast

Seraikela, March 26. Bharatiya Janata Party’s Seraikela Vidhansabha
convenor Manoj Kumar Chowdhary along with BJP supporters listened to
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mann Ki Baat program at booth number
354. They said that the organ donation gave life to four persons.
