Ranchi, October 22: Political momentum is picking up for the forthcoming Jharkhand assembly elections, with all parties ramping up their preparations. Sources indicate that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold 7 election rallies across the state. The Jharkhand BJP has submitted a proposal to the central leadership to organize at least 7 of PM Modi’s rallies. Of these, 4 are expected to take place in the first phase and 3 in the second phase.
The first of PM Modi’s rallies is likely to be held in Ranchi, where leaders from alliance parties, including Nitish Kumar, Chirag Paswan, and Sudesh Mahato, may join him on stage. The plan is to have one rally in each of Jharkhand’s divisions. While there are five administrative divisions in the state, the BJP has reorganized the state into 6 divisions for election purposes and these include Palamu, Santal Pargana, Kolhan, North Chhota Nagpur, South Chhota Nagpur, and Koylanchal (which includes Dhanbad, Bokaro, and Giridih). Another rally is also under preparation.
The 81 assembly seats in Jharkhand will be contested over two phases. Voting for the first phase is scheduled for November 13, with the second phase on November 20. Results will be announced on November 23.
