Cyclonic storm brewing in Bay of Bengal: Heavy rain expected in Jharkhand

Jamshedpur, October 22: Jharkhand’s weather is set to change again with the possibility of heavy rains over the next two days. A low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal strengthened on Monday, and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted it could develop into a cyclonic storm by October 23. The storm is expected to pass between Puri in Odisha and Sagar Island in West Bengal.

According to the IMD, this system could make landfall as a severe cyclonic storm between the coasts of North Odisha and West Bengal, near Puri and Sagar Island, during the night of October 24 or early morning on October 25. Torrential rains are likely in several states, including Odisha.

The approaching storm may also affect Jharkhand’s weather, bringing rain and cooler temperatures, particularly in districts like Ranchi, from October 23. The IMD has forecast widespread rain in Jharkhand on October 24 and 25, with heavy rainfall potentially leading to a noticeable drop in temperature.
