Jamshedpur, Aug 9: In a major breakthrough district police arrested a rebel belonging to PLFI, a banned outfit in West Singhbhum on Monday. He was arrested from Bandgaon in Chakradharpur subdivision area of West Singhbhum. Police have recovered one country-made pistol, one live cartridge, two pamphlets, two mobile phones from him.
Police had received information that the squad of area commander of the banned PLFI, Laka Pahan, is active in the forest of village Katwa under Bandgaon police station area.
A senior police official informed that a team under the leadership of senior officers was formed for verification of information and necessary action. During the raid, a person was caught from near the hockey ground of village Katwa under Bandgaon police station area.
The nabbed youth was identified as Lodro Hessa’s father- Sahadev Hassa, Sakim Gopol, of District Khunti. At first he tried to mislead the police but after strict interrogation, he confessed to being an active member of PLFI.
In this context, a case has been registered in Bandgaon police station under sections of the case number 13/21 Arms Act and CLA Act. Preparations are being made to send him to judicial custody.
The police and paramilitary forces have also beefed up the naxal infested areas of West Singhbhum district. Sources informed that the police are frisking commuters in the bordering areas. At some places common people are also being interrogated by police and paramilitary forces on suspicion. Forces have been deployed in strategic locations.
Police said that the security has been beefed up in the area and they were keeping strict vigil on movement of the Naxlites. “ We do not want any untoward incident to take place. On the basis of the leads provided by the arrested person, a joint team of police and paramilitary forces are raiding at different places,” noted another senior official. Sources informed that the police have decided to ensure strict vigil and deploy additional security forces in the fringe areas.
