PJP Cinepolis Jamshedpur to screen ‘Carry On Jatta 2’ from June 22

AISSF President tweets filmmaker Prakash Jha to screen Punjabi movies

Jamshedpur, June 19: The inauguration of PJP Cinepolis in Jamshedpur had created a buzz among the Sikh community of Steel city that soon they would be able to see their favourite Pollywood stars on the big screen that to in their own city. But more than a month after six-screen multiplex opened its doors at P&M Hi-tech City Centre Mall in Bistupur, none of Punjabi films like ‘Carry On Jatta 2’, ‘Daana Paani’, ‘Laung Laachi’ to name a few were screened.

But the overwhelming response to Punjabi comedy movie ‘Carry On Jatta 2’ across India, UK, Canada, Australia and US, has forced the owner of the multiplex chain, Prakash Jha to screen the movie from June 22 at PJP Cinepolis in Jamshedpur.

All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF) president (East India), Satnam Singh Gambhir, had on June 18 tweeted filmmaker Prakash Jha that there are 2.25 lakh people of the Sikh community living in Jamshedpur but still no Punjabi movies are screened. A day after, Prakash Jha replied that we are planning for the same and will screen ‘Carry On Jatta 2’ from June 22.

Meanwhile, in the last few weeks, films like ‘Golak Bugni Bank Te Batua’, ‘Daana Paani’, ‘ Bhai Taru Singh’ and ‘ Laung Laachi’ have been doing quite well across India.

Carry On Jatta 2 is a 2018 Indian Punjabi comedy film directed by Smeep Kang. The film is a sequel to the 2012 film, Carry On Jatta with Gippy Grewal, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Binnu Dhillon, Jaswinder Bhalla, B.N. Sharma and Karamjit Anmol returning to feature in the second instalment. The film features Sonam Bajwa as the lead female and, Upasana Singh and Jyotii Sethi.
