Jamshedpur: A three-member team of Medical Council of India (MCI) on Tuesday inspected MGM Medical College and Hospital.
According to information, while two member of the visiting team inspected the medical college at Dimna in Mango, one team carried out the inspection at the medical college hospital in Sakchi.
Principal, MGM Medical College, AC Akhauri confirmed that a team inspected both the college and hospital.
“A three member MCI team has come from New Delhi for the inspection of the medical college and hospital. The inspection team will remain here today and leave for New Delhi tomorrow,” Akhauri said.
The principal refused to reveal anything about the departments the MCI team inspected during the day-long inspection.
Hospital superintendent, SN Jha accompanied along with other senior doctors of the hospital were present during the one-member team.
The one-member inspection team visited the hospital emergency, Out-patient departments (OPDs), medical and surgical wards and the administrative building of the medical college hospital.
“It is just a routine inspection visit. The team is going around to understand the medical facilities and infrastructure of the hospital,” said Jha while talking to the newsmen.
The two member team which inspected the medical college also went on seeing various departments including the physiology, anatomy, orthopaedic, surgery, ENT and gynaecology but did not respond to the queries made by the newsmen.
Meanwhile, a senior administrative officer of the medical college hospital revealed that the inspection team is observing the existing infrastructure at both the college and hospital. The team will submit a report before the MCI, New Delhi.
It may be mentioned that State Government governed Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College and Hospital, is an Indian medical school established in 1964. It is situated in the outskirts of Jamshedpur near Dimna. The students are admitted through an All India pre medical test CBSE PMT held by CBSE and Jharkhand and Bihar states’ combined entrance tests. The college’s hospital is located in Sakchi.
