Jamshedpur: Patriotic songs filled the air at Michael John auditorium, Bistupur, on Sunday as students from 35 schools across the city participated in the Inter School Hindi Patriotic Song and Dance Competition.
The participants brought alive moments from history as they sang various melodious patriotic songs with enthusiasm.
The event was inaugurated by social worker Arun Bankrewal who lit the ceremonial lamp to announce the competition open.
Bankrewal said it was a great feeling to love one’s country the way one loved one’s own family.
During the inaugural session, several distinguished personalities from different fields were felicitated by the organizers.
Those felicitated included Hari Mittal (art and culture), Joba Murmu and Tala Tudu (regional literature), Vatsal Singhania (sports) and Voluntary Blood Donors Association (social work).
The inaugural speech was delivered by Rajan Nageliya. Prakash Sharma conducted the programme. The winners were adjudged by Dr Ragini Bhushan, Krishna Ganguly, Smarika Mishra and Somi Basu.
The organizers said next year the competition will be organized on 11th August.
In the dance category, Vig English School team won the first prize while Daffodils High School won the second prize.
In the song category, the first prize was won by Beldih Church School while the second prize was won by Jamshedpur Public School. The third prize was won jointly by DBMS School and KPS Burmamines.
