Para Teachers’ Union District President Sonu Sardar shot dead

Seraikela: Sonu Sardar, 40, husband of Parvati Sardar, Mukhiya of Yashpur Panchayat, and District President of the Para Teachers’ Union, was tragically shot dead by unknown criminals on Friday night in his village, Bardih. Sonu was returning from a party function in Ganjia when he was ambushed near his school, Nav Prathmik Vidyalaya Bardih, and shot by the criminals. After carrying out the attack, the assailants fled the scene.

The police immediately reached the site, took the body into custody, and sent it for post-mortem at the Saraikela Sadar Hospital. An investigation is underway, and efforts are being made to apprehend the criminals.

Former Union Minister Arjun Munda condemned the murder, calling it a “heinous crime.” He expressed his condolences to the bereaved family and spoke to the Superintendent of Police, urging swift action and strict punishment for the culprits. “Sonu Sardar was an active social worker and a leader in the field of education. This murder has created an atmosphere of fear and insecurity,” said Munda.

The Para Teachers’ Union has demanded a high-level investigation and immediate arrest of the perpetrators. Local people, along with union members, have raised their concerns about the increasing insecurity in the area.

The Jharkhand Sahayak Adhyapak Sangharsh Morcha has also issued a demand for compensation and a government job for Sonu’s family. “The murder of Sonu Sardar has left his family in a tragic condition. We demand Rs 50 lakh as compensation and immediate action against the criminals,” said Rishikesh Pathak, a member of the state steering committee of the union.

Additionally, the Bhumij Samaj has expressed outrage and demanded the immediate arrest of the killers, warning of strong protests if the authorities fail to act within 24 hours.
