Panic strikes as 32 elephants approach human settlement

Chakulia: A wave of panic swept through the community on Monday evening as 32 wild elephants approached Sheikh Pada, near the Muslim settlement in the Chakulia Nagar Panchayat area. Fearful residents fled their homes in response to the looming presence of the elephants, and local villagers made efforts to drive the elephants away by igniting spices and setting off firecrackers.
Authorities have informed the forest department about the elephants’ arrival, although the forest department’s rapid response team has yet to reach the scene. It has been reported that these wild elephants originated from the Govindpur direction and journeyed to Sheikh Pada, adjacent to the settlement near Hatchali.
The communities in the vicinity, including residents of Sonahara, Govindpur, and Kamarigora villages within the Nagar Panchayat area, are gripped by anxiety due to the unexpected visitation of these elephants.
