MLA expresses displeasure, refuses to lay foundation stone over name issue

Ghatshila: MLA Ramdas Soren, scheduled to lay the foundation stone for a health center construction project sanctioned under the 15th Finance Commission in Banki Panchayat, arrived on Monday to an unexpected turn of events. His visit took an unanticipated course when he spotted the name of Zilla Parishad member Devyani Murmu inscribed on the stone pillar, resulting in his frustration and the subsequent decision not to lay the foundation stone as planned. Bystanders, including workers and local residents, looked on as the MLA’s displeasure unfolded.’

When questioned about the cause of his dissatisfaction, MLA Soren cited a breach of protocol by the organizers and the department. He raised concerns about whether government protocol necessitates the inclusion of Panchayat representatives’ names on foundation stones. He insisted that the organizers or departmental officials should have presented the relevant instructions to him before proceeding with the foundation stone-laying ceremony.

Following this episode, the MLA promptly departed for another foundation stone-laying event in Chakdoha and Kadadooba, leaving the matter unresolved in Banki Panchayat.
