Panchayat poll observers hold review meeting

Chaibasa, Nov. 20: General observer Loise Lakra, financial observer Ratan Lal Gupta and assistant Deputy Commissioner Jay Kishore Prasad held a review meeting with the candidates for Zila Parishad members for the ensuing third phase of the three-tier Panchayat election 2015 at the Chiabasa ADC office on Friday.

While briefing the candidates, Lakra said that Prior permission should be obtained from the SDO before the candidates opened an election office. In addition, the candidates required permission for vehicles for election purpose and holding public meetings. Each candidate is permitted to use a maximum of four vehicles in their election campaign.

The poll observer added that in order to organise election meeting at a market place, any public place or a crowded places, candidates should take from the respective SDO and a copy of permission should be sent to the nearest police station to keep vigil over law and order situation. Lakra further said that a Zila Parishad member can spend up to Rs. 1.50 lakh for his/ her election expenditure and the report of the financial expenditure should be submitted to the Election Commission within the stipulated time.

The observers warned the candidates saying that the purchase of liquor and intoxicating item are strictly prohibited two days before the election and till 7 a.m. after the Election Day. As far as posters, pamphlets, advertisement or leaflets for election propaganda is concerned, the name of the printing press should be mentioned.
Any complain, problem and query can be made to the districts observers. The observer also asked the candidates to strictly adhere to the model code of conduct for the Panchayat Election 2015.

Among others, the review meeting was attended by Zila Parishad candidates Laxmi Suren, Devki Kumari, Parvati Samanta, Basanti Devi and others.
