Attempted robbery in Jamshedpur’s Burmamines, two injured

Jamshedpur, Feb 25: Panic gripped the Burmamines area on Tuesday night after an attempted robbery near the Odia Club turned violent, leaving two residents injured and triggering anger among locals of Das Basti.
The incident occurred around 10 pm when Raj Das, a resident of Das Basti, was returning home from duty.
According to his statement, a group of youths allegedly under the influence of alcohol intercepted him near the Odia Club and attempted to snatch his belongings.
When he resisted, the miscreants reportedly attacked him with a machete.
Sensing grave danger, Raj abandoned his motorcycle at the spot and fled to save his life. Soon after being alerted, his friends rushed to the location.
During the commotion, another youth, identified as Sandeep, was also attacked with a machete, sustaining injuries to his leg.
He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where he received treatment.
Eye witnesses claimed that the assailants hurled abuses and pelted stones during the incident. Raj’s motorcycle was extensively damaged in the stone-pelting.
Following the attack, Raj Das and his associates lodged a written complaint at Burmamines police station. Both Raj and Sandeep informed that the police have initiated an investigation and are working to identify and apprehend the accused.
The violent episode near the Odia Club has sparked outrage among residents of Das Basti, who have demanded intensified police patrolling in the area and swift action against the culprits to restore a sense of security.
