Jamshedpur, Oct 15: During intensive checking at the Rasunchopa checkpoint on the Jharkhand-Odisha border, authorities intercepted a vehicle traveling from Rairangpur to Jamshedpur carrying Rs 10.4 lakh in cash.
The money was seized on the spot by the magistrate stationed at the checkpoint, and further legal action has been initiated.

While inspecting the checkpoint, Rural SP Rishabh Garg emphasized intensifying the ongoing verification drive and instructed that every vehicle entering from Odisha should be thoroughly checked to ensure a peaceful conduct of the upcoming Ghatshila-45 by-election.
The SP also issued several additional directions to strengthen the monitoring process.
The seizure comes amid the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct for the by-election.
Notably, two days earlier, on October 13, authorities had confiscated Rs 12,28,400 at the same checkpoint.
With the latest recovery, a total of Rs 22,68,400 has been seized so far.
The checkpoint operation was carried out in the presence of Kowali police station in-charge Dhananjay Kumar Paswan along with his team.
