Over 350 join PALTIMAR3 dengue drive in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, June 15: Marking World Dengue Day, Tata Steel Utilities & Infrastructure Services Limited (Tata Steel UISL), in association with the District Health Department, organised a Dengue Prevention & Control Workshop under the #PALTIMAR3 campaign at Kudy Mohanty Auditorium in Kadma.
The workshop brought together more than 350 stakeholders, including school principals, teachers, representatives of residential welfare societies and gated communities, government officials, health workers and conservancy supervisors. Among those present were Krishan Kumar, Deputy Municipal Commissioner; Atul Kumar Bhatnagar, Managing Director, Tata Steel UISL; R.K. Singh, General Manager (Town O&M); and Raghunath Pandey of Tata Steel Utilities and Service Shramik Union.
Speakers praised the #PALTIMAR3 campaign and stressed that community participation is crucial in preventing dengue. They urged citizens to spread awareness at the household level, eliminate mosquito breeding sites and involve children as ambassadors of the movement. Residents were also informed that penal action could be taken if mosquito breeding is detected during inspections.
During the technical session, Dr Asad, District Surveillance Officer (IDSP), presented an analysis of dengue trends over the past three years and shared insights on disease transmission, symptoms, vector surveillance and source reduction measures. He encouraged citizens to observe a Weekly Dry Day every Sunday and dedicate 10 minutes daily to dengue prevention activities, while checking water-holding containers at least twice a week.
A live exhibition of dengue larvae and adult Aedes mosquitoes provided participants with practical knowledge on vector identification and breeding behaviour.
The workshop concluded with a collective pledge by participants to eliminate mosquito breeding and strengthen dengue awareness across communities.
