Jamshedpur: Bystander injured in Debu Bagan firing

Jamshedpur, June 15: Incidents of firing continue to raise concerns in the steel city, with the latest case reported from Debu Bagan under Golmuri police station area late on Sunday night.
A youth sustained a bullet injury during the incident, triggering panic in the locality.
The injured have been identified as Deepak Jha, a resident of Tata Line. He was admitted to Tata Main Hospital (TMH), where doctors confirmed that he is out of danger.
According to Deepak, he had gone to the Debu Bagan area to buy sweets when he noticed a group of youths engaged in a heated argument.
The dispute soon escalated, and one of the individuals allegedly pulled out a country-made firearm and opened fire.
A stray bullet struck Deepak in the leg.
Deepak said he did not immediately realise he had been shot. However, moments later, he experienced severe pain and noticed bleeding from his leg. He then contacted an acquaintance, who rushed him to TMH for treatment.
Medical examination later confirmed the bullet injury.
On receiving information about the incident, Golmuri police reached the spot and launched an investigation. Officers recovered a spent cartridge case from the scene and cordoned off the area as part of security measures.
The assailants fled immediately after the firing.
Police are now trying to identify those involved in the dispute and ascertain who fired the shot.
CCTV footage from nearby locations is being examined, and officials expressed confidence that the accused will be arrested soon.
The recurring incidents of firing in Jamshedpur have heightened public concern over safety and law and order. Police, however, maintain that several recent cases have been successfully solved and efforts are underway to curb such crimes.
