Jamshedpur, April 24: In a landmark verdict, the court of Additional District Judge Rajendra Kumar Sinha has handed down a 14-year rigorous imprisonment sentence to tuition teacher Partha Das. The teacher was found guilty of maintaining continuous physical relations with a student, luring her under the pretext of tutoring.

The court also levied a separate fine of Rs 10,000 on Das. This ruling marks the final decision of Judge Rajendra Prasad Sinha during his four-year tenure in Jamshedpur. Additionally, due to non-payment of the fine, Das faces an additional year of imprisonment. The court has further directed compensation for the victim.

The victim, who was 14 years old in 2011, had sought tuition from Partha Das. Over the years, Das exploited her vulnerability, leading to multiple pregnancies. Despite promises of marriage, he ultimately refused to wed her. The victim courageously filed an FIR at the Mango police station, resulting in the conviction of Partha Das under section 376 (2) (n) of the Indian Penal Code for rape.
