Outline strategy to double farmers� income and connect them with IT: CS


Ranchi, April 25: Chief Secretary Raj Bala Verma directed agriculture department to develop an IT cell for MIS entry of all schemes and getting intimated with implementation of agricultural schemes and monitor them.

She said that GIS mapping of completed schemes should be done and photo of completed work should be uploaded. The department should make work plan to double the farmers� income and connect them with IT.

Mrs. Verma further said that by 30th May, farmers should be connected with Pradhan Mantri Fasal Beema Yojana (PMFBY) and daily monitoring with BCO/BTM at block level should be done.

She said that block wise SoP should be prepared to connect with PMFBY. A mobile application should be developed so that the beneficiaries of PMFBY can be connected through an app. Entry of this work should be ensured through Pragya Kendra. 25 lakh farmers are expected to be connected with PMFBY.

Regarding soil testing, the CS said that soil testing should be ensured at village level on mission mode and the sample collection should be completed by 15th June. This FY, 2 lakh soils are targeted to be tested and proposal of purchasing 3500 new soil testing machine will be brought in the cabinet. Against the proposal of 1200 soil testing machines, 605 have been purchased and sent to different districts. The remaining 595 machines will be received till 30th May.

She said that soil health cards should be provided to the farmers by the dept. after soil testing and it should be monitored regularly.

The CS directed to start digging pond on all the identified places for pond making in 2016-17 and complete them by 15th June. In 2017-18, 200 ponds are targeted to be made and every panchayat should have at least 1 pond. In the focus areas, 2-3 ponds should be made and after GIS mapping of the completed ponds, photo should be uploaded in MIS. As per the availability of land at Krishi Vigyan Kendras, big ponds should be made for seed production.

Mrs. Verma said that in the 516 seed villages, 3 lakh quintal seeds have been produced. LAMPS and PACKS should be made wholesalers of fertilizers so that fertilizers can reach to all villages easily. ARYA members should be prepared as retailers of fertilizers.

She said that work plan should be made for cent percent barren land for production of pigeon pea and other pulses. 1.88 lakh hectare barren land has been identified for farming.

The CS said that in addition to the existing seed villages, 25 new seed villages should be made in each district.
