Notices issued to a dozen building owners
Jamshedpur, June 28: Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) has issued notices to a dozen building owners near Sonari Airport, instructing them to install red lights on their rooftops. This directive follows a letter from Tata Steel highlighting security concerns.
Engineers Pranav Thakur and Amit Anand of JNAC conducted inspections of several buildings in the vicinity. The notice, issued by JNAC, mandates the installation of red lights on buildings taller than G+2 for safety reasons, requiring these lights to operate 24 hours a day.
JNAC Deputy Municipal Commissioner Krishna Kumar stated that a standard operating procedure has been developed to regulate the height of buildings around Sonari Airport and to restrict movement on rooftops. This measure aims to prevent any issues for aircraft landing at the airport. According to the Airport Authority’s regulations, building, tower, mobile tower, and chimney heights are limited to ensure the safety and efficiency of aircraft operations. The installation of high-beam red lights is compulsory, aiding pilots during flight and emergency landings.
Previously, notices were sent to building owners, resulting in the installation of red lights on many structures. Building owners who have yet to comply have been ordered to install the required red lights promptly.
