Orange alert issued in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, June 20: The Southwest Monsoon has made its way into Jharkhand, bringing the possibility of thunderstorms and heavy rainfall to the state over the next few days. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Jharkhand, indicating a high probability of moderate to severe thunderstorms, lightning, and thunderstorm activity from Tuesday to Thursday.

Dr. Abhishek Anand, Head cum Scientist at the Meteorological Department’s Ranchi Center, released a video briefing regarding the weather conditions. He stated that until the monsoon fully establishes itself in the state, districts should remain on alert for thunderstorms and lightning. The weather is expected to normalize once the monsoon becomes active.

On Tuesday, Jamshedpur experienced a maximum temperature of 38.0 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 27.4 degrees Celsius. The orange alert has been issued until June 23 for several districts, including Godda, Simdega, Pakur, Dumka, Deoghar, Jamtara, Giridih, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Koderma, Hazaribagh, Chatra, Latehar, Lohardaga, Ranchi, Khunti, Simdega, West Singhbhum, East Singhbhum, and Seraikela. During this period, wind speeds are expected to range from 30 to 40 kilometers per hour. Furthermore, an orange alert has been issued for Gumla, Palamu, and Chatra on June 21. Meanwhile, a yellow alert for rain with thunderstorm persists in Bokaro, Deoghar, Dhanbad, Ramgarh, Ranchi, Chatra, Gumla, Hazaribagh, Khunti, Latehar, Lohardaga, Simdega, Garhwa, Jamtara, and Palamu. Wind speeds during this period may reach 40 to 50 kilometers per hour.
