Opposition builds up against proposed shifting of temple in Golmuri

DC and SSP conduct special inspection, no solution yet

Jamshedpur: The proposed shifting of Hanuman Mandir temples in Golmuri has evoked strong reactions from the temple committee members, Youth Congress leaders and a section of local residents.

In a bid to resolve the issue, Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar and Senior Superintendent of Police Anoop Birtharay visited Golmuri for a special inspection of the proposed anti-encroachment plan. Their appeal for a reconsideration of the proposal was turned down by the protesting stakeholders.

State Youth Congress secretary Rakesh Sahu, in a press statement issued today, said, “We welcome the administration’s plan to widen the main road, but are opposed to its proposal to shift and demolish the temple. This cannot be allowed as it will directly hurt the religious sentiments of the people.”

Sahu said the Youth Congress activists were ready to face the wrath of the administration.

Meanwhile, the temple committee members too, said they were not ready for any reconciliation. Chief Minister Raghubar Das is learnt to have sent his representative Pawan Agrawal along with the DC and SSP to Golmuri to find out an amicable solution of the problem.

Hundreds of people were present during the inspection by DC and SSP. They raised slogans to save the temple and unite against administration officials to stop its shifting.
