Jamshedpur, March 25: The H3N2 influenza patient admitted to Tata Main Hospital (TMH) has been discharged, hospital sources said.
Meanwhile five new suspected patients have been identified, whose blood samples have been sent to laboratory for tests.
H3N2 is not as deadly as corona, but everyone needs to be careful.
This was observed by Dr. Sudhir Rai, General Manager (GM) of Medical Services of Tata Steel. Dr. Ashok Sundar, HOD, Department of Medicine was also present with him, who threw light on the ground reality about the condition of H3N2 and its prevention. Both of them were addressing a virtual press conference on Saturday. Dr. Rai and Dr. Sundar said that ward 8A of TMH was being used for H3N2 patients. The ward has a total of 18 beds, which are divided into two parts, they said.
The doctors said six days back a woman from Sakchi was found infected with H3N2. “A sample test was done and she was found positive. But her health is fine now. The 68 year-old patient has now been discharged. Besides, there are five suspected patients, who have been sent to government agencies for testing. Their reports are awaited. The report is released by the government after 48 hours,” said the doctors.
Dr. Ashok Sundar, HOD of the Department of Medicine said that this disease is seasonal flu and it is quite different from Corona. Its symptoms are similar to those of corona, but the chances of death are very less. Till now only 451 patients have been found of this H3N2 in the country, in which only 9 people have died. But no one has died in Jharkhand or Jamshedpur.
The doctor said that this influenza will end by the end of April or May, it is expected. He said that seven days after the virus is over in the infected patients, while the children are kept under observation for about 14 days, then they are discharged, but if the patient wishes, he can go home, but He has to give in writing that he wants to go of his own free will. He said that H3N2 is an influenza, which spreads from one person to another.
“The infection spreads when an infected person talks, coughs or sneezes with another. It can also spread by touching the contaminated surface or by touching the mouth and nose. At the same time, he said that its patients are advised home isolation. Anyone who is infected with H3N2 is advised to take Tamiflu. On the other hand, the person with infection will have to eat 75 mg for 5 days. On the other hand, people who have come in contact with an infected person are also advised to take Tamiflu.
The person who comes in contact has to take Tamiflu 45mg for 10 days,” said the doctor.
Dr. Sundar said that samples of patients infected with pneumonia, fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body pain, headache, fatigue, diarrhoea are sent to the lab for examination. The report is received after 48 hours.

“Due to this, the elderly and those people who are suffering from chronic respiratory disease, heart problem and kidney diseases should be careful. Such people should avoid going to crowded places. To avoid this, people should constantly wash their hands with soap and water and should also abstain from coming in contact with sick people. Cover your mouth or nose with tissue or elbow while sneezing or coughing. Avoid going to crowded areas. Children, elderly and pregnant women are advised to exercise strictness. Wear a mask when you go out,” said Dr Sundar
