One arrested for illegal sand mining in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Feb 16: A team of district mining department arrested one person in connection with alleged illegal sand mining near Bajrang Chowk on the banks of Swarnarekha river in Baridih. It also seized a truck loaded with illegally mined sand. The accused was allegedly mining sand without permission. The seized truck carried 80 cubic feet of sand. A case was registered in this connection against the truck owner and driver with the Sidhgora police station area, sources said.

Mining department officials said the campaign against illegal mining activities would continue. They said a surprise inspection of the river bank was conducted but no illegal stock was found.

Mining Inspector Rahul Kumar said strict action would be taken against those trying to line their pockets through illegal mining activities.
