Notorious criminal held in Jamshedpur with illegal firearms

Jamshedpur, Nov 19: In a swift and co-ordinated operation on Tuesday late evening, police arrested notorious criminal Shahbaz along with one of his associates from the Muslim Basti area of Carriage Colony under Burmamines police station.

Acting on a tip-off, a special police team cordoned off his hideout and launched a targeted raid.

As soon as the operation began, commotion spread through the locality, and a large number of women gathered to protest the raid.

A brief altercation took place between the women and the police, but officers exercised restraint, calming the situation before continuing the operation.

According to police, Shahbaz has been involved in multiple firing incidents and acts aimed at creating fear across Burmamines, Kadma, and Parsudih police station areas in recent months. After these cases surfaced, he had been absconding and frequently shifting locations to evade arrest.

Acting on precise intelligence late in the night, the police closed in on Carriage Colony and arrested Shahbaz and his associate despite local resistance.

During a search, the team recovered three illegal firearms from his possession.

Officials stated that Shahbaz had long been active in activities that spread fear and unrest in the area.

His arrest is expected to help unravel links to several past criminal cases.

Police are interrogating him to trace the weapon supply network, identify other associates, and gather information on possible criminal plans.

Senior officers emphasized that any attempt to disrupt law and order in the city will not be tolerated, and similar stringent action against criminal elements will continue.
