Notorious ‘Chatni Don’ arrested in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, June 17: Sonari police have arrested notorious local criminal Priya Singh alias “Chatni Don” in connection with a brutal assault case and sent her to judicial custody.
The arrest follows a violent incident reported on June 15 in Adarsh Nagar, Gwala Basti under Sonari police station limits.
According to a complaint lodged by resident Pooja Devi, her husband Om Prakash Singh was sitting outside their house when a speeding Swift Dzire car driven by Pawan Yadav passed through the area, narrowly missing a child playing near the roadside. An argument reportedly broke out after Om Prakash Singh objected to the reckless driving.
Police said Priya Singh, who was travelling in the vehicle, allegedly summoned her associates to the spot following the altercation. Soon after, a group of armed men arrived and allegedly launched a violent attack on the complainant’s family members, leaving several of them seriously injured.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Sonari police said a special team was constituted under the leadership of the station in-charge to investigate the case. Acting swiftly, the team apprehended the prime accused, Priya Singh alias Chatni Don.
Police records indicate that the accused is a history-sheeter with around 15 criminal cases registered against her. Further investigation into the case is underway, and efforts are being made to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in the assault.
