Jamshedpur, June 17: Residents of Jugsalai have been facing growing inconvenience as door-to-door garbage collection has remained suspended for the past five days, leading to heaps of waste accumulating across several localities and raising concerns over sanitation and public health.
According to representatives of the waste collection agency, the disruption has been caused by the saturation of the dumping yard used for waste disposal. With no additional space available for dumping garbage, the agency has been unable to continue household waste collection services.
Taking up the issue, Jugsalai Municipal Council councillors Anil Modi, Satyanarayan Agrawal and Bade Lal Dubey met Executive Officer Sandeep Paswan on Wednesday and urged immediate intervention.
The councillors highlighted the risk of disease outbreaks during the monsoon season if garbage remains unattended for an extended period. They demanded that an alternative disposal arrangement be put in place within 24 hours so that regular waste collection can resume without further delay.
The councillors stressed that maintaining sanitation is one of the primary responsibilities of the civic body and called for swift and effective measures to prevent further deterioration of the situation. They warned that prolonged disruption could aggravate health and environmental concerns in the town.
Responding to the concerns, Executive Officer Sandeep Paswan assured the councillors that the administration is closely monitoring the situation. He said efforts are underway to resolve the dumping yard issue and establish an alternative waste disposal mechanism at the earliest.
Paswan expressed confidence that the problem would be addressed soon and normal garbage collection services restored, providing much-needed relief to residents and helping maintain cleanliness across Jugsalai. (
