Ranchi, October 17: Jharkhand’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) K Ravi Kumar announced that nominations for 43 Assembly seats for the first phase of the forthcoming elections will commence on October 18. The last date for filing nominations is October 25, and submissions can be made between 11 am and 3 pm, except on holidays. All candidates are required to adhere to the guidelines set by the Election Commission. K Ravi Kumar made these remarks during a press conference at the Election House in Dhurwa on Thursday.
Rs 10,000 Security Deposit required for nominations
The CEO stated that candidates will be allowed only three vehicles within 100 meters of the nomination site, and only four people, including the candidate, can enter the nomination room. Candidates must provide a proposal signed by 10 individuals and submit a security deposit of Rs 10,000 for general candidates, while SC/ST candidates will have to deposit Rs 5,000.
Nomination guidelines for candidates
Each candidate must fill out Form 26 and submit an affidavit detailing criminal records, which must be advertised in three newspapers and on social media. A separate bank account must be opened for election expenses.
Jharkhand elections in two phases
This year, Assembly elections in Jharkhand will be held in two phases, the first on November 13 and the second on November 20, with results to be declared on November 23.
