Khunti, April 23: In a strategic move ahead of the impending elections, Arjun Munda, a prominent figure in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), officially submitted his nomination papers for the coveted Khunti Lok Sabha seat on Tuesday. This pivotal event unfolded amidst a flurry of political activities and heightened anticipation within the constituency.
The nomination filing ceremony was accompanied by a meticulously orchestrated public meeting orchestrated by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) alliance in Khunti. Against the backdrop of a fervent crowd, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh took center stage to address the audience, delivering a speech laden with accusations and political fervor.

Singh, in his impassioned address, launched a scathing attack on the Congress party, accusing it of undermining the foundational principles of secularism and perpetuating divisive politics driven by communal agendas. He levied allegations against the grand old party, asserting its complicity in the annulment of reservation quotas for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC/STs) at prestigious educational institutions like Jamia Millia University and Aligarh Muslim University.
Furthermore, Singh didn’t refrain from targeting former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, highlighting what he deemed as an unprecedented situation of a sitting CM being detained. Singh said it was unprecedented in India’s history that a CM went missing. “Currently, he (Soren) is in jail as a government guest,” he said, adding that Jharkhand had three BJP chief ministers – Babulal Marandi, Arjun Munda and Raghubar Das – but none faced any corruption charge.
Amidst the political theatrics, Singh also shared a noteworthy anecdote of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s diplomatic prowess, narrating a tale of how PM Modi’s intervention brought about a temporary ceasefire in the protracted Russia-Ukraine conflict. This diplomatic triumph, as recounted by Singh, facilitated the safe repatriation of a staggering 22,500 Indian students who were stranded in the conflict-ridden region.
Preceding Munda’s nomination filing, a grand spectacle unfolded as the BJP luminary, flanked by an array of influential leaders including BJP state president Babulal Marandi and AJSU chief Sudesh Mahato, embarked on an exuberant roadshow through the bustling streets of Khunti. The procession, marked by fervent chants and a sea of supporters, culminated in visits to revered temples, where Munda sought divine blessings before officially stepping into the electoral arena.
