Jamshedpur, April 23: In preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has all but confirmed Sameer Mohanty as its candidate for the Jamshedpur Lok Sabha seat. An official announcement is imminent following a meeting between JMM’s Central General Secretary, Supriyo Bhattacharya, and Sameer Mohanty in Jamshedpur.

This decision comes after the recent release of the second candidate list by the JMM, wherein Vijay Hansda secured the ticket for the Rajmahal seat, and Joba Manjhi for the Singhbhum seat. Prior to this, JMM had already announced candidates for Dumka and Giridih, with Nalin Soren and Mathura Prasad Mahato respectively.

The alliance comprising JMM, Congress, RJD, and CPI(ML) is set to contest a total of 14 Lok Sabha seats in Jharkhand. Among these, JMM has secured five seats, with Rajmahal and Singhbhum being reserved for Scheduled Tribes.

In addition to JMM’s nominations, the Congress has declared candidates for seven seats, including Lohardaga, Khunti, Hazaribagh, Ranchi, Godda, Chatra, and Dhanbad. Meanwhile, CPI(ML) and RJD have announced their candidates for Koderma and Palamu respectively. (w/nkm)
