Ranchi: The bail application of suspended IAS Pooja Singhal, accused of money laundering, was heard on Saturday in the bench of Supreme Court judges Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia.
Senior advocate Siddharth Luthra argued on behalf of Pooja Singhal. On behalf of ED, ASG (Assistant Solicitor General) SV Raju presented his side. During the hearing, the ED advocate told the top court that the statement of two important witnesses has been recorded in the lower court in the money laundering case related to Pooja Singhal. But the statement of one witness could not be recorded at present because he was working on election duty. After which the court fixed December 14 for the next hearing of the case.
Incidentally, Pooja Singhal had surrendered in the special court of Ranchi ED on 12 April this year. Since then he is lodged in Birsa Munda Central Jail in connection with the MNREGA scam case in Khunti, Jharkhand
Her husband Abhishek Jha is also an accused in the same case. Although the Supreme Court had given him anticipatory bail.
