Jamshedpur, Nov 18: National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML), Jamshedpur signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Electrotherm (India) Limited to foster long-term collaboration in advanced materials research, electrical steels, and cutting-edge metallurgical technologies.

The partnership is designed to accelerate joint research and technology development in electrical steels, new alloy systems, corrosion-resistant and functional coatings, and critical import-substitution materials essential for India’s industrial and strategic sectors.

Under the agreement, both organisations will undertake collaborative laboratory and pilot-scale trials, testing and validation exercises, and systematic exchange of technical expertise.

The collaboration will also include evaluation and development of new materials and processes with potential for industrial deployment.

Representatives from CSIR-NML and Electrotherm emphasised that this alliance will strengthen India’s technological self-reliance under the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, enabling domestic industries to benefit from science-driven, innovative solutions.

The MoU, valid for an initial period of three years, paves the way for focused R&D programmes, plant-level demonstrations, and future commercialization of breakthrough metallurgical products and technologies.
