Jamshedpur Women’s University hosts lecture on NEP 2020

NEP 2020 promotes flexible, multidisciplinary learning

Jamshedpur, April 1: Jamshedpur Women’s University organised a lecture on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 at its Sidhgora Campus auditorium under the initiative of NEP Saarthies.

The programme was conducted under the guidance of Vice Chancellor Dr.Ela Kumar. It began with an introduction to NEP 2020 by the NEP Saarthies, followed by a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony and felicitation of guests.

Key dignitaries present included Registrar Dr.Salomy Kujur, Proctor Dr.Sudhir Kumar Sahu, keynote speaker Dr.Ramaa Subhranian, and NEP Saarthi Coordinator Dr.Sonali Singh.

Addressing the gathering, Dr.Ramaa Subhranian highlighted the major features of NEP 2020, stating that it encouraged multidisciplinary and experiential learning along with flexible academic pathways. She explained the National Credit Framework and the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC ID), which allowed students to store and transfer academic credits digitally through platforms like DigiLocker.

She also elaborated on the NEP Curriculum Framework (FYUGP), focusing on holistic education, elective choices, and internship opportunities after the fifth semester. Emphasising discipline, she noted the importance of attending both internal and external examinations and adhering to the revised attendance policy.

An interactive session followed the lecture, where students raised queries on the new policy. The programme concluded with a presidential address by Dr.Sudhir Kumar Sahu and a vote of thanks by the NEP Saarthies. (w/gsd)
