Jamshedpur: National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur has created a new benchmark in campus placements for the 2025-26 academic session, with a Computer Science Engineering (CSE) student securing a record-breaking annual package of ₹94.25 lakh. The achievement surpasses last year’s highest package of ₹82 lakh and marks one of the best placement performances in the institute’s history.
The institute recorded an impressive overall placement rate of 92.68 percent during the ongoing placement season. According to official figures released by the Training and Placement Cell, out of 699 registered students, 649 students successfully secured placements in reputed national and international companies. The overall average package across the institute stood at ₹14.23 lakh per annum.
The Computer Science Engineering department emerged as the top-performing branch in terms of salary packages. Along with the highest package of ₹94.25 lakh, the department achieved an average package of ₹29.56 lakh per annum. Out of 111 registered students from the branch, 104 secured placements, resulting in an 87.39 percent placement rate.
The Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) department also delivered outstanding results. The highest package offered to an ECE student reached ₹66.70 lakh per annum, while the average package stood at ₹21.50 lakh. Out of 102 students, 97 were placed, registering a placement percentage of 95.09 percent.
Civil Engineering emerged as the branch with the highest placement percentage among all departments. Out of 87 registered students, 84 secured placements, taking the placement rate to an impressive 96.55 percent. The highest package in the branch was ₹20 lakh per annum, while the average package stood at ₹7.80 lakh.
Mechanical Engineering also recorded strong placement figures, with 98 out of 103 students placed, resulting in a 95.14 percent placement rate. The branch recorded a highest package of ₹17.03 lakh and an average package of ₹8.85 lakh per annum.
Electrical Engineering witnessed a placement rate of 93.69 percent, with 104 out of 111 students securing job offers. The highest package in the branch touched ₹64 lakh per annum, while the average package remained at ₹13 lakh.
The newly introduced Engineering of Computational Mechanics branch made a promising debut, with 23 out of 26 students placed. The branch recorded a highest package of ₹46 lakh and an average package of ₹15.89 lakh per annum.
Production and Industrial Engineering recorded a placement rate of 94.44 percent, while Metallurgical and Materials Engineering achieved a placement percentage of 90.72 percent, reflecting consistent growth across core engineering streams.
The placement drive witnessed participation from several leading multinational corporations and industry giants, including Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Adobe, Oracle, Goldman Sachs, PayPal, Deloitte, Accenture, Intel, NVIDIA, Qualcomm, Tata Steel, Infosys, Wipro, and Morgan Stanley.
Expressing satisfaction over the institute’s historic placement performance, an official said the results reflect the hard work of students and the institute’s strong academic environment.
“Securing a highest package of over ₹94 lakh and maintaining an overall average package of more than ₹14 lakh is a landmark achievement for NIT Jamshedpur. A placement rate above 92 percent clearly reflects that our students are fully prepared to meet evolving global industry demands,” he said.
