Night-time vehicle theft racket busted in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, May 8: In a major breakthrough against rising vehicle theft incidents in the city, Sidhgora Police Station busted an alleged vehicle theft racket operating under the cover of darkness and arrested four accused persons late at night. Police also recovered three stolen two-wheelers from their possession.
According to police sources, the operation was carried out during routine night patrolling on the intervening night of May 6 and 7. A police team noticed two youths riding a suspicious motorcycle near AIWC School. On spotting the police, the duo allegedly attempted to flee, prompting officers to chase and apprehend them.

The arrested individuals were identified as Ranjit Diwar and Shekhar Pramanik. During interrogation, they failed to produce valid documents for the motorcycle. Sustained questioning reportedly led to their confession that the bike had been stolen.
Based on their disclosures, police conducted a raid at a vacant quarter near Baridih High School, where two more accused — Santosh Bhuiya and Raj Khan — were arrested. Two stolen scooters were also seized from the spot, including one whose parts had already been dismantled.
Police recovered a Hero Splendor motorcycle, a Honda Activa scooter, and a Suzuki scooter during the operation. Preliminary investigation revealed that the gang allegedly dismantled stolen vehicles and sold the parts separately in the illegal market.
Police have registered a case at Sidhgora police station and launched a deeper investigation to trace the gang’s wider network and possible links to other vehicle theft cases in and around the city.
