Chaibasa, June 27: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has launched actions in the terror funding case in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand. On Thursday morning, the NIA team arrived in Manoharpur and was conducting raids in Jogeshwar Bhatta. The investigation focused on funding related to the CPI Maoist Naxalite organization and the Naxalite attack on former MLA Guru Charan Nayak.
While police officials have not officially confirmed details, it is known that the NIA has been highly active in Jharkhand recently, investigating several cases including terror funding. Just a few days ago, the NIA raided several hideouts in West Singhbhum, leading to the arrest of multiple Naxalites and the recovery of important documents and equipment from their hideouts.
Former BJP MLA Gurucharan Nayak was attacked by Naxalites a few years ago during an event in West Singhbhum district. Although Nayak managed to escape, two of his bodyguards were killed, and one survived by fleeing despite injuries. The NIA continues to investigate this case, having already registered an FIR against numerous Naxalites, including Misir Besra.
The NIA’s investigation revealed that the attack on Nayak was meticulously planned. Following this, the NIA had interrogated three accused as part of its ongoing probe.
