Jamshedpur, June 27: In a cyber crime case involving absconding accused Sudhakar Kumar and Pawan Kumar (District Gaya, Bihar), the court has issued a show-cause notice to the In-charge of Mango police station. The court’s decision came after repeated failures by the police station to provide information about the accused.
The accused were granted bail by the Jharkhand High Court on the condition that they reported to the police station monthly. However, both had been absent, prompting the court to seek clarification from the police station. Despite a letter sent by the court on July 5, 2024, and a subsequent reminder on May 8, 2024, the police station did not comply with the court’s order to provide information.
Due to the absence of the accused, proceedings in the case had been delayed. On Thursday, Judge Aabhas Verma of the Special Court for Cyber Crime issued a show-cause notice to the police station in-charge, demanding an explanation within a week. The court also revoked the bail bond of both accused.
In the original case, the court framed charges against the accused on July 12, 2023, under sections 420/34, 379/34, and 66B, 66C, and 66D of the IPC and the IT Act. To date, three witnesses have testified.
The case began when Israel Haque, a resident of Road No. 7 Azadnagar Mango, filed an FIR at Mango police station. He reported that on April 8, 2022, while attempting to withdraw money from an ATM at Gandhi Maidan in Mango, an unknown person replaced his ATM card and later withdrew Rs 35,000 from his account.
