Ranchi, June 27: The blueprint for cabinet expansion in Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress is nearly finalized, with plans to fill 12 ministerial positions. Following Alamgir Alam’s incarceration due to a tender scam, Jamtara MLA Irfan Ansari is expected to be appointed as a minister from the minority quota. However, political insiders caution that last-minute changes are always possible, as evidenced by the previous dramatic postponement of Baidyanath Ram’s ministerial appointment.
Reports indicate that JMM, along with Congress, has decided on Baidyanath Ram for a ministerial post from its quota for the vacant cabinet seat. Preparations are reportedly underway for a swearing-in ceremony scheduled for the evening of June 28. Speculation also suggests that Congress may replace two of its current ministers.
An agreement between JMM and Congress on the new ministerial appointments appears to be in place, with Hemant Soren expressing his approval. The recent meeting between former CM Hemant Soren and Congress’s Jharkhand in-charge Ghulam Ahmed Mir at Birsa Munda Central Jail on Tuesday is being viewed in this context. Additionally, there are discussions about replacing Agriculture Minister Badal Patralekh, with Deepika Pandey Singh being considered as his potential successor.
