Naxalite attack halts Jharkhand infrastructure projects

Latehar: In a concerning development, Naxalites have disrupted vital infrastructure projects in Jharkhand, leading to chaos and panic in the region. Criminal elements associated with the Communist Party of India (Maoist) targeted construction sites in Latehar and Chatra districts, hampering the ongoing work on the third railway line.

The incident occurred at Bariatu in Chandwa, Latehar district, where the construction of the third railway line was underway. Perpetrators, believed to be Naxalites, set ablaze at least three machines involved in soil cutting. Meanwhile, in Simaria of Chatra district, vehicles engaged in bridge construction work were set on fire by CPI Maoists.

Kashyap Construction, responsible for the third railway line project in Bariatu, faced disruption as Poklane, JCB, and mixer machines were burnt by the criminals. The situation escalated with at least seven rounds of firing reported, creating an atmosphere of fear and panic in the area.

The motive behind the criminal act appears to be an attempt to thwart the smooth progress of infrastructure development in the region. The affected construction sites are awaiting a detailed investigation to assess the extent of damage and determine the necessary course of action. Authorities are expected to take stringent measures to ensure the safety of ongoing projects and address the security concerns in the affected areas.
