Naxal bunkers busted in Jharkhand’s Chotanagra Forest

Jamshedpur: In a major success for security forces, a joint operation team comprising Chaibasa Police and Cobra 209 Battalion recovered a significant cache of explosives, ammunition, and daily use materials from five Naxal bunkers during an intensive search operation in the forested hilly region under Chotanagra police station.

The operation was launched on July 8 following specific intelligence inputs received by Superintendent of Police, West Singhbhum, that cadres of the banned CPI (Maoist) were storing arms and ammunition with the intent to target security forces and disrupt ongoing operations in Saranda and Kolhan areas.

During further searches carried out on July 11, security personnel located and demolished five bunkers believed to have been used by top Naxal leaders, including Misir Besra, Anmol, Mochu, Anal, Asim Mandal, Ajay Mahato, Sagen Angaria, Ashwin, Pintu Lohara, Chandan Lohara, Amit Hansda alias Uptan, Jaikant, Rapa Munda, and their squad members.

Among the recovered items were two Electric Aero Devices (EAD), which were immediately destroyed on-site by the bomb disposal squad to ensure the safety of the forces. The recovered material includes: Electric detonators, Walkie-talkie set, Safety fuses, Aero bomb assemblies, Electric wires, Syringe mechanisms, Black and green uniforms, Ammunition pouches and Other daily utility items.

According to officials, the operation dealt a blow to Naxal infrastructure in the region by destroying key supply caches used for carrying out subversive activities.

Security forces remain on high alert, and further combing operations are underway to flush out remaining cadres and dismantle their network. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to neutralising Naxal influence and ensuring the safety of civilians in the affected areas.
