Jamshedpur, July 18: A two-day national seminar on “Energy Sustainability and Climate Change: Innovations and Solutions for a Resilient Future” concluded on July 18 at RVS College of Engineering and Technology, Jamshedpur. Organized under the AICTE-Vaani initiative, the seminar was uniquely conducted in the Santhali language by Dr. Vikas Murmu, Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The event aimed to promote regional languages while raising awareness on critical issues like energy sustainability and climate change.
The seminar brought together researchers, scholars, and students to discuss innovative solutions for environmental resilience. During the technical session, noted Santhali film actor, director, and producer Dashrath Hansda addressed participants and said, “Through my films, I have conveyed the message of preserving the Santhali language and folk culture.”
Kushal Hansda, General Secretary of the International Santhali Council, emphasized, “Preserving tribal culture is essential for protecting the environment.” Scholars including Menka Bala Hansda, Rani Murmu, and Ramesh Hansda also shared their insights during the discussion.
The valedictory session was chaired by the college’s Treasurer, Shatrughna Singh, who stated, “While learning new technologies is important, it is equally vital to preserve our culture and protect the environment.”
Dr. Rakesh Kumar, the seminar coordinator, described the event as a landmark initiative in integrating local languages into technical education and promoting sustainability. Vikram Sharma, Head of Training and Placement, highlighted that using the Santhali language deepened community engagement and inclusivity. All participants were awarded certificates for their contribution.
