Do not fear AI, embrace it as a boon, says Rajiv Kumar
Experts highlight innovation, ethics and real-world impact of artificial intelligence
Misuse of Technology Can Weaken Moral Values in Society, says Syed Safdar Razi
Jamshedpur, March 6: A two-day national symposium on Artificial Intelligence (AI) began at Al‑Kabir Polytechnic, Jamshedpur, bringing together academicians, researchers and students to discuss the growing influence of AI across various sectors.
The symposium, themed “AI Unleashed: Innovations, Ethics, and Impact across Emerging Real-World Domains,” started on Thursday with participation from experts and faculty members from different institutions. The event is being organised under the patronage of Jharkhand Technological University, whose Vice Chancellor Prof. D.K. Singh conveyed his best wishes to the organisers and participants in a congratulatory message.
The programme began with Dr. Chandana Kumari, Head of the B.Tech. Department of Computer Science and Engineering and convener of the symposium, introducing the distinguished guests and outlining the objectives of the event.

Welcoming the guests and participants, Principal Waris Imam highlighted the growing role of artificial intelligence in modern life. “Artificial intelligence is transforming industries and daily life. While it offers tremendous opportunities, it also brings challenges that society must address responsibly,” he said.
Among the chief guests was Syed Safdar Razi, who spoke about the rapid pace of technological advancement. “The world is moving quickly towards modern technology. While AI has brought revolutionary changes in fields such as medical science, misuse of technology can weaken moral and ethical values in society,” he noted.
Rajiv Kumar, principal, Jamshedpur Workers College encouraged students to view AI as an opportunity rather than a threat. “AI has made the world more accessible and efficient. Instead of fearing technology, we should embrace it and dream big, just as A. P. J. Abdul Kalam inspired young Indians to do,” he said.
The academic sessions featured several expert presentations. Dr. Vishesh Ranjan Kar from National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur delivered a lecture on “AI across the Research Lifecycle,” explaining how artificial intelligence can support research and innovation.
Another session was conducted by Dr. Vijay Dalla of National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur, who spoke on “AI in Space and Underwater Robotics.” Principal Waris S. Imam also presented a research paper titled “Spirituality, Consciousness and AI: Can Machines Think Like Humans?”
The session concluded with a presentation by Prof. Shahab Saqib Suhail of Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi, on “Mirrors or Magnifiers? How Does AI Reflect and Amplify Society.”
The symposium also included panel discussions and research paper presentations by scholars and students from various institutions, encouraging dialogue on innovation, ethics and the societal impact of artificial intelligence.
