Namdhari quits Lok Sabha contest

Ranchi: Independent MP from Chatra Inder Singh Namdhari today announced that he will not contest the Lok Sabha election this time round. He said he had decided not to contest the polls after much introspection and that it was his personal decision.

Speaking his heart out while making the announcement on Saturday, he expressed his gratitude to the people of the constituency for giving him an opportunity to represent them for five years.

Expressing worries on rising levels of corruption, he said he will continue to work for the people and campaign against corruption. He assured to lend his support to development activities in Chatra.

Namdhari had defeated his nearest rival Dhiraj Prasad Sahu of Congress party by a margin of around 13,000 in the Lok Sabha elections of 2009 at Chatra seat. Sources said Namdhari had been trying to get a ticket from the Bharatiya Janata Party this time.

But the party declared Sunil Singh as its candidate. Last time, BJP leaders and activists had supported Namdhari in an indirect manner.
