Naman remembers 1965 Param Vir Chakra winner Abdul Hamid

Jamshedpur, Sept. 10: Social organisation Naman on Thursday paid tributes to Company Quartermaster Havildar Abdul Hamid of 4 Grenadiers, at its office premises in Kalimati Road, Sakchi.  

Citizens including youths and women following COVID norms remembered Abdul Hamid’s bravery in the battle of Asal Uttar, one of the largest tank battles fought during the 1965 India-Pakistan war. Chief Guest for the occasion was Dr K Zakaria.

Speakers for the occasion Ramkeval Mishra said, those who seek proof from army for their operations should be declared anti-nationals. Patron of Naman, Brijbhusan Singh said, today’s youth are forgetting their ancestors who sacrificed their lives for the country and Naman has been sending reminders to walk on the paths laid down by our ancestors.     

Convenor of Purva Sainik and Naman, Varun Kumar said, Abdul Hamid had sacrificed his life for the country. The youths of today should take inspiration from such martyrs and follow in their footsteps.

Hamid laid down his life fighting Pakistani tanks on 10 September 1965, and was awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India�s highest gallantry award.

Founder of the organistaion Amarpreet Singh Kale shed light on the heroics of Abdul Hamid and said that before paying tributes to a martyr we must remember his parents. Chief Guest Dr Zakaria was of the opinion that Amarpreet Singh Kale and Naman has instilled passion and desire among the youths. Present on the occasion were Rajeev Kumar, Kugnu Pandey, Devendra Marwah, Sukhvinder Singh Nikku, Sujit, Mahendra Singh, Swati Mistra, Seema Das and others.
